I just finished putting together some patio furniture that I picked up at Sears Outlet. I thought I was getting a good deal until I had to assemble it.
I honestly don't understand the benefit of using hex screws. Why can't they just use thicker screws? The holes are always located in a tiny area that is impossible to fit an L shaped object into. You can usually get about a quarter of a turn before you have to take it out and fumble around to get it back in. It's like an evil torturous version of the game Perfection. One that leaves you with sore fingers and knuckles.
Then there's the fact that the pieces didn't actually fit together properly. It takes two hands to bend things in a way that they line up and you still need a free hand to start the screw. I often found myself using both hands and my feet to put the damn chairs together. I can only imagine what I must have looked like rolling around on the floor, cursing and dropping screws.
At any rate, I was able to get everything put together. I hope I never have to put patio furniture together again! It was such a pain I'd prefer to keep this until I die. Hell I may even have it buried with me! Just throw me in a tomb with my cheap patio furniture.
